Imagine buying a pre-built condo in Toronto only to find it emits a loud sound on windy days that sounds a bit like swarming bees. That's what's happened at 8 Eglinton Ave East near Yonge St. The effect is like blowing over a coke bottle.
The building developers have said that the building is still under construction and sound emitted is created by the wind interacting with the balcony railings. Once they install all the railing components this spring, the noise will stop.
From Toronto Life files, people are saying “What you hear is sort of a reverberation, a moving pitch that goes up and down,” he says. “It’s absolutely hellish. It started giving me a headache after about two hours.” and “I would say it’s violin-loud. Like someone playing it in the bathroom with the door closed. My girlfriend, who has a hearing aid, would not be able to hear me properly if I was speaking in a regular tone.”
